Official HamHock

My dad has just gotten his ham radio license and wanted a plaque that had his call letters on it.
So my husband and I came up with this hehehe.

Another Unicorn

I decided to try my hand again at another Unicorn.
This one is the wallpaper on my computer, didn't turn out just like it, but it looks good.

I am happy with it :-)

Unicorn

Well it didn't turn out quite like I wanted, but finally was able to do a unicorn.
I like it, but I am going to do another one when my mind isn't so mushy haha.

I did these flowers at about 3:30am this morning (1/23/07).
Couldn't get to sleep, so figured what the heck, go burn some wood heh

Two Birds

I did this tonight ( 01/22/07) worked on it all evening.
Turned out pretty good. Used watercolor pencil to give some green color to the leaves on the limb.

My latest work

My husband and I went to a bookstore and found this woodburning (pyrography) book by Sue Walters and it had this amazing wolf picture in it. I wanted to do this soooooooo bad, but didn't have a piece of wood big enough for it. Well we went to go see my parents one weekend and my mom said that she thought dad may have some extra boards laying around that he wasn't going to use for anything and if he did, then I could have them. WOOHOO he had 3 big boards!!!!! I was a kid in a candy store lol couldn't wait to get home and see what I could do with this wolf that I wanted to do so badly. Well, Sue Walters has nothing to worry about from me, but for as little experience as I have in this right now, I think it turned out pretty darned good!!!

This is still a work in progress, but I have two pictures of it so far.

I am still needing to figure out how to bring the wolf out more, because right now it just seems so distant. But believe me heh I am working on trying to figure it out!!

This is the first draft of the wolf. not much shading done in it. I guess you would say the rough burn.

This is the shaded in version of the wolf. It's turning out pretty good, I just gotta figure out how to bring her out more. But I do love how the limb turned out!! now that dark spot next to her butt is a rock lol you can't really tell it but it is hehe

First Burn on Paper

I had read where you could practically burn on anything!!! So I thought I would try my hand at burning on paper and NOT causing it to catch on fire and burn my house down.
I had some watercolor paper that I had bought to do some art card things to sell on ebay (well that didn't fly so well because I am no artist lol). So since that didn't pan out, I thought I would try a burn on it. And this is what I came up with. I found a scroll saw pattern that my husband had and traced it onto the watercolor paper and then burned.

After I burned it onto the paper, it just looked really bland, so I figured I would color it in. I used watercolor pencils to color it in and came up with this.

My husband's box

My husband came home with a couple more boxes, and he wanted me to burn a box for him with dragons. Now dragons are VERY detailed and I am sooooooooo not good enough to capture all of the detail on a dragon!!! So I scoured the internet for simple yet good looking dragons and these are what I came up with.

This is the dragon that I found to go on top of the box. This was my first time really trying the shading thing. Was very hard!!!!! But the letters turned out FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!

This dragon is on both ends of the box. I just loved how this one looked on paper and PRAYED that it looked that good on the box. It does I think :-)

This is like a ying yang dragon. I put this on the front of the box. It turned out way cool. I just loved how it turned out!!!!

Christmas Gifts

I decided that since everyone was saying how good my burning was getting, that I would burn them something for Christmas. I burned plaques for my mom, my dad and my sister and brother in law. Sadly, I only got pictures of my mom and dad's, I took a picture of my sisters, but for some reason it was lost. I will see if she will take a picture of it and send it to me and then I will add it on here.

This was made for my dad, he likes bulldogs and I found the meanest one I could. He put this on his door to his CB room heh. I thought that was pretty cool :-)

This one was made for my mom. Her bathroom is decorated with a cat theme, so what better thing to put on the bathroom door? :-)

2nd burn

This is the second burn.

My husband brought home a box from work and I just found a rose that I wanted to burn, so it was perfect timing I think .

My first woodburn

This is my first woodburn.

I done this one about 3 months ago... October 2006

This was my very first burn. I had always been afraid of the woodburning tool, but thought what the heck, I'll try it

A new hobby

I have started a new hobby, something to take my mind off my pain.
I also believe my husband got me started on this to keep me off the computer a bit more and to stop reading as much as I had been here lately hehe.
But whatever the reason, I have started learning how to do woodburning.

Some of things I have done look ok lol I see problems with them, but my family say they look great!!!

So I will go with that hehe.
